Jenny Boss expects WOW women wrestlers to find a female John Cena or The Rock

Later this year, WOW Women of Wrestling will be making a major comeback to TV thanks to its multi-year deal with ViacomCBS, and while there are many obstacles along the way, it’s almost time for WOW to introduce a lineup of new stars to wrestling fans. In a new interview with Variety’s Strictly Business PodcastWOW co-owner Jenny Buss was asked why she decided to continue with the project after previous reboots, and in her response, Buss revealed that she fully expects to find the female version of Dwayne The Rock Johnson or John Cena as she refines and expands this launch pad for new stars. .

When asked why she decided to continue with WOW after previous iterations, Buss was confident she had found the right partner this time around to make this model sustainable for future generations. “If women listened to this, there would be no women’s sport at all. It’s just taking people like me who believe and want to invest, as promoters and discover a sustainable model. We have finally found the right partner at CBS Viacom and we are now launching in September and we have over 100% coverage From outlets in the U.S. We’re overseas and in Australia, we’re picking up markets as we go forward,” Boss said.

“It’s one of those things that, if you build it, will come. We need to put a flag on the ground and now we finally have the right partner that will give us the exposure we so desperately need to show that women can draw assessments, that women can Be center stage and be the lottery. This was a sustainable model that I feel can last for generations and this is my investment once again in women and athletics.”

On learning from previous releases, Boss said, “The producer has always been strong, the storytelling, the wrestling, it was just finding the audience and making sure the women are trained properly and finding these stars. I totally expect we’ll find the female version of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. Or John Cena, that this will be a springboard for stars who really need a chance to grab attention and gain an audience.”

WOW Women of Wrestling will premiere on CBS affiliate networks on September 17, and you’ll find out more about the new line-up and the talent behind the show here.
